We will begin by opening up an existing project from within the recent files page.
00:10
And now we'll load the align tool from the modify tab up on the ribbon.
00:14
So if we click on modify,
00:16
come over to the modifier panel
00:19
in the top left corner of that panel, click on the line.
00:24
But before we actually use this tool,
00:26
we'll investigate the options available to us via the options bar
00:31
within the prefer list.
00:33
We see that we have these alternatives.
00:37
We can choose from all center lines or faces,
00:41
center of core
00:42
faces of core
00:45
to get a better understanding of what each of these refer to.
00:48
Let's look at the structure of one of our walls.
00:51
So to cancel the allied tool, we'll click on the modify tool within the modified tab,
00:58
then move our cursor into the graphics area and select one of our external walls.
01:05
We will now go over to the properties palette
01:08
and select edit type
01:10
and this will bring up the type properties data box.
01:14
We can see we already have a preview,
01:17
but just in case we don't see a preview
01:20
that was invoked by clicking the preview button down at the bottom here.
01:25
So we can see that the preview button will either open the panel,
01:28
the preview panel that is
01:30
or it will close it.
01:32
OK.
01:33
So now look at the structure of the wall,
01:36
we need to come over to the type parameters section
01:39
and adjacent to structure within the value column, select edit.
01:45
And we're now in the edit assembly data box
01:48
and we can now see the layers
01:50
that make up the overall width of our wall.
01:54
So the option that we referred to will center lines is obviously going
01:58
to be the middle between the external face and the internal face.
02:02
All faces will be either the exterior face or the interior face.
02:07
So center of core, on the other hand,
02:10
will be halfway between
02:12
the two core boundaries that we see here
02:15
and faces of core will be either layer five or layer seven.
02:20
So hopefully that gives a better understanding of what
02:22
those options are the next time we see them.
02:25
So we'll cancel out. I've hit this data box by clicking, cancel
02:30
and we'll cancel out of here
02:33
to proceed.
02:35
We need to deselect the wall that we have selected.
02:38
We'll just click in an empty space
02:40
and that will occur.

This opens the Type Properties dialog box for the wall type.
