Informed Design web app - generate manufacturing outputs

Generate multiple outputs from an Informed Design project and save them to the cloud.


Step-by-step guide

Generate outputs for manufacturing, including bill of materials, drawings, and model outputs, directly from the Informed Design web application.

  1. With a model open in the Informed Design web app, from the Product tab, review the product information and model preview to ensure accuracy.
  2. Click Generate Outputs.

This opens the Outputs tab, which displays the list of file types that were selected as output types when the project was originally published from Inventor.

  1. Under File Types, for this example, select All available. Alternatively, select the desired types.

  1. For the Upload Location, click Browse.

  1. In the Select Upload Location dialog box, navigate to the ACC account, project, and folder where the generated outputs should be saved. In this example, the Stairs folder is chosen.
  2. Click Confirm.

  1. Back on the Outputs tab, click Generate to create and save a copy to the Autodesk Docs environment.

Note that if nothing has changed, the app will not generate new outputs.

When it finishes generating, the Outputs tab displays a list with the status of each output.

  1. Select an output with a Status of Success.
  2. Click Open in upload location to view the output in Autodesk Docs.

Autodesk Docs has the functionality to view different file formats, so the specific software does not need to be installed. For example, while a GLB file cannot be viewed in Docs, a STEP file can be selected and viewed.

If the output generation process fails, a notification is generated.

Also, the list of outputs can also be filtered by Pending, Success, or Fail.
