A long section window displays a cross-section view through the length of a selected run of network objects.
00:09
This long section view has many uses.
00:13
For example, you can inspect a run of nodes and links, edit network objects by accessing their object properties window,
00:20
view simulation results, or insert a node into a link displayed on the view.
00:26
In this example, you use the Long Section Pick tool to create a long section window, and then you change the labels that are displayed.
00:34
To complete this exercise, create a new network and import the 1D Sewer Network.isfm snapshot file,
00:42
or open an existing sewer network model on the GeoPlan.
00:46
In the menu, select GeoPlan > GeoPlan tools > Long Section pick.
00:52
Or, in the GeoPlan Tools toolbar, click the Long Section pick tool.
00:57
Zoom in to a specific area and select a run of pipe.
01:01
Click the title bar of the long section window to make it the currently active view, and a Section menu appears in the menu bar.
01:09
To open the Section Properties dialog, select Section > Properties, or right-click the long section and select Properties.
01:18
Here, you can change how the long section is viewed and choose what grid labels are displayed along the X-axis.
01:25
To set the labels that are displayed, on the Content tab, in the Grid Labels group box, click Field Settings.
01:32
In the Network Label Field Settings dialog, in the list of object types, select Node.
01:38
On the right, in the list of fields, select ground_level and flood_level.
01:44
Change the object type to Conduit, and then select conduit_height.
01:50
Click OK.
01:52
In the Section Properties dialog, click Apply to update the view.
01:56
The selected fields now appear at the bottom of the view with any associated flag colors.
02:01
Click OK to close the Section Properties window.
02:05
Additionally, you can open the property sheet for any object in the long section.
02:10
In the GeoPlan Tools toolbar, click Properties, and then click any node in the section window.
02:17
Or, you can click the Select tool, and then double click the node.
02:22
The Object Properties window displays the property sheet for the selected object, so you can view or edit the object data.
02:29
Right-click the long section for a menu of additional options.
02:34
For example, select Nodes grid to open an object grid containing only the objects in the long section.
02:41
Close the grid window.
02:44
You can have several long section windows open at the same time.
02:48
If you open a long section window containing multiple pages,
02:52
the page number appears in the toolbar with Next and Previous arrow buttons to scroll through the pages.
02:58
Also, note that any theme applied to the GeoPlan is replicated in the long section.
