It is quite often the case we find we have the
00:07
task of tidying up or making amendments to existing wall layouts.
00:12
The objective of this video is to look at three wall
00:15
trim stroke extend tools which will make this task easier.
00:20
One will be used to create a corner with two existing walls.
00:24
A second will trim or extend a single wall element to another.
00:29
And finally,
00:30
a third will enable multiple wall elements to
00:33
be either trimmed or extended to another.
00:37
We'll begin by opening up an existing project from the recent files page
00:43
looking at this layout. Our tasks are to create two corners here and here
00:49
then extend
00:51
a single element to the external wall,
00:55
followed by trimming a single element
00:58
to the external wall.
01:00
We'll then follow this
01:02
by using a tool which will enable us to trim
01:06
and extend
01:08
multiple walls in the center. Here,
01:11
the trim tools are found within the modified tab up on the ribbons.
01:15
So if you click on there
01:17
within the modified panel
01:19
and all three trim tools which we are about to look at
01:23
are here where my cursor
01:25
is going backwards and forwards.
01:27
So our first task is to create a corner.
01:30
So we'll click on trim, extend to corner
01:34
and please note that when you're using these tools trim extend to corner,
01:38
you always click on the piece that you want to keep.
01:42
So in this case, if we click on this wall, followed by this wall,
01:47
you'll see that the surplus was removed.
01:50
And likewise, if we click on this wall and click on this wall here and not here,
01:56
you can see by the little blue lines indicating what's gonna happen
01:60
that when we click on there,
02:01
we end up with a corner.
02:04
OK.
02:05
We are now required to extend this single wall
02:09
to here.
02:10
We don't want any trimming to occur on this occasion, we simply want it to extend
02:14
and not lose any of the external wall.
02:16
This tool will perform that task.
02:19
So we choose trim extend single elements.
02:22
The first thing we're required to do is specify the reference element,
02:27
the element that it will trim or extend to. In this case, it's going to extend.
02:31
So we click on that external wall
02:34
and when we click on this wall,
02:36
it extends to there.
02:38
So the lower half
02:40
of this wall, the lower section of this wall,
02:42
we require it to trim to the external wall.
02:46
So once again, we select the external wall as the reference
02:50
and select the piece we want to keep.
02:53
And all it does is it trims a single element
02:58
we can see in the center
02:60
we have extending and trimming to do
03:04
the tool that will enable us to do that simultaneously
03:07
is the trim extend multiple elements tool.
03:12
So if we click on that,
03:14
the first thing we're required to do is specify
03:16
the reference which will be the vertical wall.
03:18
So we click on that
03:20
and then we can either click these individually,
03:24
but we have the opportunity here to use a crossing window.
03:27
So if I click in an empty space, hold the pick button down and drag upwards,
03:32
we have this dotted window.
03:35
And when I release the pick button,
03:38
it will automatically trim and extend simultaneously
03:42
those multiple elements
03:44
to exit the command, we click on modify
03:48
and that is our task complete.
