Step-by-step guide
When working in InfoSurge Pro, components, or facilities, and their attributes must be digitalized to create a water distribution network. If desired, pre-mapped model layers can be imported. However, the values that represent critical attributes of model components can be entered manually.
To begin, use the Import Manager to import a shapefile—in this case, it represents a reservoir:
- From the Model Explorer, open the Command Center tab.
- In the link tree, expand Exchange.
- Double-click Import Manager.
- In the Import Manager – Source & Options dialog box, in the Import Element Type group box, select Reservoir.
- In the Import Options group box, expand the Format drop-down and select Shapefile.
- Enable Create New Records.
- Enable Update Existing Records.
- Next to the Source File field, click More (…).
- Navigate to and select the desired shapefile—for this example, in the InfoSurge > Model Data folder, Reservoirs-GIS.shp is selected.
- Click Open.
- In the Import Manager – Source & Options dialog box, click Next to open the Import Manager – Field Mapping dialog box.
- Click the Auto-Map (>>) button to auto-map all fields with the same names in the GIS.
- Click Finish to complete the import.
A notification appears to indicate that the reservoir data was successfully imported.
- Click OK.
Repeat steps 4-12 to add more model components, specifying each of the following element types and matching source files:
- For Import Element Type Tank, set the Source File to tanks-GIS.shp.
- For Import Element Type Junction, set the Source File to junctions-GIS.shp.
- For Import Element Type Pump, set the Source File to pump-GIS.shp.
- For Import Element Type Pipes, set the Source File to pipe-GIS.shp.
- When all model components are digitized, click Close.
- On the ribbon, Project tab, click Save Project.
