Collaborate with other disciplines using a common data environment
Module overview
A key focus of this course is the setup and management of a common data environment (CDE). In this section, you’ll gain hands-on experience in working with project folders and use Forma Data Management and Design Collaboration for effective collaboration. You’ll explore how BIM enables multi-disciplinary coordination, clash detection, and early issue identification—crucial for minimizing errors and improving project efficiency.
Note: Autodesk Construction Cloud is now part of Autodesk Forma.
You may notice that platform and product names in our products have changed to the new Forma brand. Please note that platform and product names in this material may not yet be updated, but the functionality of the products and tools remains the same, and the workflows described in these pages are still applicable.
The following terms referred to throughout these videos and documents are updated to a new Forma brand name:
Autodesk Construction Cloud → Forma for Construction (for education)
Autodesk Docs → Forma Data Management
To work along with the video lessons in this module, access to Autodesk Forma for Construction is required. Some lessons require students to have project administrator access level to follow along with the video lessons hands-on, however, watching the video lesson alone will give students the knowledge and understanding so that they can describe the process and explain the benefits of the steps in the lesson.
This material is from the course Introduction to BIM for AECO.
