00:04
You can see that when we open the template, we already have a layout set up
00:08
for a plan and profile sheet at one inch in 20 ft scale.
00:13
When I zoom into the title block,
00:15
you can see that title block attributes have been created.
00:20
The hash symbols indicate that fields are assigned to the attributes
00:23
and these fields are linked to a sheet set using sheet set manager.
00:29
We're going to assign some additional fields
00:31
and to make this process easier,
00:33
we're going to save this template as a drawing and then add it to a sheet set,
00:38
use save as and in the save as dialog, change the file type to DWG
00:44
and then in the project drawing production folder, save the drawing.
00:51
Now on the command line type sheet set and press enter,
00:55
this will open the sheet set manager
01:00
in the sheet set manager,
01:02
click on the open, pull down and navigate to your production drawings folder
01:06
and then open the Iowa City DS T sheet set
01:10
in the sheet set.
01:11
We have already created some sheet subsets which
01:14
we can use to manage our drawing sheets.
01:17
Click on the sheet name at the top
01:20
right click and choose properties
01:24
here. We can see the properties that have been assigned to the sheet set.
01:28
There are some built in properties for project control
01:32
and then you'll see there are some sheet custom properties
01:35
and there are some sheet set custom properties.
01:40
The sheet custom properties relate to each individual drawing sheet
01:44
and the sheet set, custom properties relate to the whole project.
01:50
We have assigned these sheet set and
01:52
sheet properties to our title block attributes,
01:54
but we have a few more to add,
01:57
choose edit custom properties at the bottom of the dialogue
02:01
and in the custom properties list,
02:03
you can see the different properties that we have added.
02:08
Click the add button to create a new property
02:12
who call this sheet title
02:15
and the owner of this will be sheet. So this will be a custom sheet property
02:21
for the default value type in sheet title two
02:24
and then click, OK.
02:27
Now add a new property and call this project number.
02:31
This will belong to the whole sheet set
02:35
type in a value 987654 for the project number and click. Ok.
02:42
Now we've added two new properties, one for a sheet and one for the sheet set.
02:47
Click. OK? To close the properties.
02:50
Now we're going to add the sheet to our sheet set.
02:54
Click on the layout tab and holding your mouse button down,
02:57
drag it into the sheet set and then choose import,
03:00
checked to import the sheet to the sheet set.
03:04
Now that we've added the sheet layout to the sheet set,
03:07
we can assign the properties to the title
03:09
block on the command line type update field.
03:12
And when it asks you to select objects type all and then press enter,
03:17
you'll see that the sheet title block information is now
03:20
populated to match the definitions in the sheet set.
03:24
Note that the project number doesn't match the new
03:26
project number field that we've added in the sheet set
03:30
and the title reads not defined.
03:33
We need to match these title block attributes with the properties in the sheet set.
03:38
From the insert ribbon tab on the block panel, pull down,
03:42
select the manage attributes button as shown.
03:46
This will open the block attribute manager
03:49
here you can edit all of the title block attributes and we
03:52
can assign them to properties in Autocad or in sheet set manager.
03:58
Select the project number field and choose edit
04:02
in the
04:03
aurate dialogue. Remove the default value
04:05
then right click and choose insert field
04:09
set the field category to sheet set and then in the field name,
04:13
choose current sheet set custom.
04:17
Then from the custom property name, pull down, choose project number
04:21
and then click. OK.
04:23
The project number property is now added to the attribute, default value.
04:27
Click. OK?
04:29
You can see that even though we've now linked the project number to the sheet set,
04:32
the value has not updated in our layout.
04:35
When we use the block attribute manager. We are editing the block definition
04:40
but the title block we see on our screen
04:42
has already been inserted and populated with default values.
04:46
We will need to delete this title frame and reinsert it to see the updates we've made
04:51
before we do that. We're going to edit the title properties,
04:56
select the title one attribute and choose edit
04:59
in edit attribute, highlight the default value, right,
05:03
click and choose insert field.
05:07
We want the title one field to be derived from as
05:09
sheet subsets in the sheet set manager
05:12
from the field names, list, choose current sheet set subset and click. OK.
05:19
Now we're going to set the title to attribute
05:22
for the default value,
05:24
insert a field and then choose current sheets custom as the field name
05:29
and for the custom property,
05:30
choose the sheet title property
05:33
and then click, OK,
05:35
click OK, to close the edit attribute, dialogue
05:38
and then click, OK. Again to close the block attribute manager
05:43
on the command line update field and select all and press enter.
05:48
We can see that the fields have not updated in the title block.
05:52
Now select the title block as shown and delete it
05:56
from the insert ribbon block panel. Choose insert
05:60
and then choose blocks from libraries
06:04
from the current drawing tab, pick the D title frame block.
06:09
Make sure all the options are turned off in the insertion options panel,
06:13
right? Click on D title frame and choose insert,
06:18
click. Ok. To close the edit attributes, dialogue,
06:22
you can see that our edited sheet set properties have been added to the title block
06:27
except the title is still showing hashes
06:31
in sheet set manager drag the Iowa City plan
06:34
profile drawing under the subset sanitary and sewer.
06:39
Now update the fields again and you will see the title is now populated.
06:45
Select the drawing in sheet set manager, right click and choose remove sheet
06:50
and then close the sheet set manager.
