00:03
You can use Civil 3D pipe network features to draw 2D and 3D models of utility systems, such as storm or sanitary sewers.
00:12
These sewers, known as gravity pipe systems, can be created in Civil 3D using existing objects in your drawing.
00:19
This method automatically creates a pipe network from entities such as lines, arcs, 2D and 3D polylines, feature lines, or alignments.
00:31
From the Home tab, in the Create Design panel, click Pipe Network, and then select Create Pipe Network from Object.
00:40
In the drawing area, select a Feature Line, 3D polyline, line, or x-ref.
00:47
In this example, select the Feature Line on the C-STRM layer.
00:53
Verify that the displayed flow direction is appropriate (left to right), select Reverse from the command line if needed,
00:59
and then press Enter.
01:01
In the Create Pipe Network from Object dialog, add the following information for this example:
01:07
Network Name: Network 1
01:11
Network parts list: Standard
01:14
Pipe to create: 12 in Concrete Pipe
01:18
Structure to create: 48 inch dia 24 inch cone Concentric Structure
01:24
Surface name: VO-SM (This specifies the surface associated with this pipe network.)
01:30
Alignment name: <none>
01:33
Select Erase existing entity to erase the entity automatically when you create the pipe network.
01:40
Finally, enable Use vertex elevations and set the Vertex Elevation Reference to Invert,
01:46
to specify the location on the pipe where the vertex elevation is located.
01:51
Click OK.
01:52
In the Toolspace, open the Prospector tab.
01:56
Expand Pipe Networks > Networks, and then the pipe network name.
02:01
In this example, Network 1 is selected.
02:04
This displays the structures and pipes you just created.
02:08
Use the Object Viewer if you want to look at the network in 3D.
