Overview: Make the Ride Possible

Noel Joyce started Project Mjolnir to make adaptive mountain bikes more accessible and affordable, with a design that wheelchair users can build, customize, and repair themselves. Using these principles and a user-centred design approach, each adaptive mountain bike can be configured around the needs of the individual rider rather than relying on a single, generic design.

In this project, you will apply the same approach to design a solution for storing essential trail items on the adaptive bike. You will begin by hearing Noel’s story and learning about the design challenge he needs you to solve. You will then consider the rider’s needs, define the requirements for your solution, and develop and evaluate concepts. Using Autodesk Fusion, you will design your chosen storage solution in the context of the bike before preparing it for prototyping.

After completing this project, learners will be able to: 

• Describe how accessibility, mobility, and user needs can shape a design challenge. 
• Use Autodesk Fusion project resources, datasets, and instructions to complete the selected challenge pathway. 
• Apply design and modeling workflows to develop or refine a solution connected to adaptive cycling.
