00:03
In this session we'll explore a couple best practices related to file referencing when working in the Autodesk Construction Cloud.
00:10
First of all, and this is the most important thing, all references must be hosted inside the ACC project.
00:16
This is because each ACC project is viewed as a self-contained environment.
00:21
Referencing files outside of the project directory structure is not allowed.
00:25
There are also a couple of nuances to keep in mind regarding external references.
00:29
When X referencing files, make sure you're using a relative path.
00:33
Absolute paths are not allowed.
00:36
This actually makes sense considering we're not able to reference outside the project folder.
00:40
So when attaching XREFs, relative path is the only acceptable path type for cloud projects.
00:47
Finally, we'll talk about reference type.
00:49
Make sure this is set to overlay.
00:52
Consistently using overlay will eliminate the possibility of circular references.
00:56
A circular reference is where file A XREFs file B and file B happens to XREF file A.
01:03
Circular references will negatively impact drawing performance in the cloud.
01:07
This makes overlay the best option.
01:09
If you adhere to this handful of best practices,
01:12
you can eliminate most, if not all issues you might face working with referenced files in Civil 3D cloud projects.
