3 min.
Transcript
00:03
When checking design dimensions or verifying clearances in a Navisworks model, accurate measurements are crucial.
00:11
Using grids and levels can make this process much easier, especially when working with complex 3D models.
00:20
Grids and levels can help you to explore a scene and give context to your location, as well as the location of objects within a scene.
00:29
To measure using the grids and levels, from the View tab of the ribbon, Grids & Levels panel, click Show Grid.
00:39
This overlays grid lines and level indicators in your 3D view, helping you to identify the exact location of different elements within the model.
00:49
From the Active Grid list, you can select which grid system to display from the different files appended to the model.
00:58
If a grid is not included in one of the files, the Show Grid tool is unavailable.
01:05
Grid modes control the display of the grids in relation to the current camera position.
01:11
You have several options for adjusting the display of grids and levels in the Scene View:
01:18
Above and Below displays the active grid on the levels directly above and directly below the camera position in red and green, respectively.
01:27
Above displays the active grid on the level directly above the camera position.
01:34
Below displays the active grid on the level directly below the camera position.
01:40
All displays the active grid on all available levels, including green and red grids,
01:47
as well as halftone images of all the other grid locations.
01:51
Fixed displays the active grid on a single level, specified in the Display Level drop-down.
01:59
It does not change the location of the grid as you orbit around the model.
02:05
When you combine models, the grid is turned on automatically.
02:11
By selecting the active grid, you can communicate where you are in the model more effectively.
02:19
With a grid displayed, you can more easily identify locations to snap to or measure.
02:26
To turn grids and levels off, simply click Show Grid again.
