And zooming into the atrium. At the end of the building,
00:06
we can see the curtain wall that we will add the doors and windows to.
00:12
Although we have a door tool on the architecture ribbon tab,
00:14
the doors available from this tool will only work with basic walls.
00:19
So to demonstrate this
00:21
from the build panel on the architecture of ribbon tab,
00:24
I'll click the door tool.
00:27
And now as I move my cursor over the curtain wall,
00:30
we'll see we have the symbol here that indicates
00:32
that the door cannot be hosted by this wall.
00:35
If I move my cursor over to one of the basic walls, then we can see we get the preview.
00:39
That means we could place the door into this basic wall.
00:43
So
00:43
I'll click modify to cancel this command.
00:47
In order to place a door or window in a curtain wall,
00:50
we first need to load in specific door and window families for curtain walls
00:56
to do this. We'll go to the insert ribbon tab
00:58
and from the load from library panel, we'll choose load or
01:02
des family.
01:05
This will open up the cloud based Autodesk content browser.
01:09
And first,
01:09
we just need to check that the locale settings are set to be United States Imperial.
01:16
Once we've done this, we'll use the search content box here
01:20
and we'll search for a curtain wall.
01:27
Then the results that are shown below here
01:29
all have curtain wall in their name.
01:31
And we can see that we have a curtain wall all in window and three doors as well.
01:36
And these, we can use to place into our curtain wall.
01:39
So I'll select the door curtain wall, single glazed
01:43
and also the curtain wall awning window
01:47
and then I'll click load at the bottom
01:49
and this will be downloaded into our project.
01:52
So how do we have those loaded? We can place them in the curtain wall
01:56
and to do this,
01:57
we must select one of the panels and swap it for the family that we've loaded.
02:01
So I'll select this panel here. We'll put our mouse near the edge and
02:05
use the tab key if necessary to select it.
02:08
And then looking at the type selector, we can see that the system panel glazed.
02:12
And if I select this, scrolling up a little,
02:15
we can see that we have the families that we've just loaded.
02:18
So I'll choose the door curtain wall, single glass family.
02:23
And we can see now that that's replaced the glaze panel
02:26
and it's just stretched itself to be the full sides of that panel.
02:30
So whenever we place a door or window into a curtain wall,
02:33
they will adjust themselves to be the size of the panel that we've placed them into.
02:38
So if I select this door,
02:39
we can see that it's over 15 ft high and nearly 5 ft wide.
02:43
So really, we need to create a panel that's the suitable size for the door
02:48
before we do this,
02:49
I'll click undo from the quick access tool while at the
02:52
top of the interface to bring the glaze panel back.
02:55
And now we'll go to the architecture ribbon tab
02:58
and from the build panel, we'll choose the curtain grid tool.
03:02
Now, looking at placement options on the modify ribbon here,
03:05
we'll change it to one segment.
03:08
Now I'll go over the panel and on one of the vertical grid lines on the side here,
03:12
we'll click to divide it horizontally
03:15
and then using the temporary dimensions, we'll set this to be 8 ft high.
03:21
Now we'll divide it vertically so that it's the right width for the door.
03:24
So again, we'll, we'll go along the horizontal mall now and then click
03:29
and using the temporary dimensions above here, we'll set this to be 3 ft six wide
03:34
and now we can see that we have a panel
03:36
that's going to be the suitable size for our door.
03:38
So
03:38
I'll click, modify to finish creating the curtain grids.
03:42
And now before we place the panel in, we'll make some adjustments to the mullions.
03:48
The mullion across the bottom here isn't needed
03:51
that this will be the door and we don't need to step over the mullion. So
03:54
we'll select that mullion again.
03:56
We may need to use the tab key to highlight it and then select it
04:00
and we can see it's pinned as it's part of the type properties.
04:03
So we'll click the symbol to unpin it
04:05
and then going up to the modify ribbon, we'll choose, delete
04:08
to delete that money off completely.
04:12
Now looking at the vertical million, we'll select this one
04:16
and we'll change this to be a smaller mullion. So we'll unpin this.
04:19
And now looking at the type selector,
04:21
we can see it's the 2.5 by five inch rectangular.
04:24
We'll change it to the 1.5 by 2.5 rectangular mullion
04:28
and we could see that changed in the model. Now,
04:31
we can also see that it breaks the larger mullion top and bottom. So
04:36
I'll click on the toggle join grips either end
04:39
so that it spans between those two larger mullions.
04:42
So now we're ready to place the door into this panel.
04:45
So we'll choose the panel that's already here
04:48
and we can see that that's now the system panel glazed and from the type selector,
04:53
I'll choose the door curtain
04:54
wall, single glass family
04:57
and we can see that's now filled in the panel that we made with the curtain grid tool.
05:02
So now we'll open up the floor, one floor plan view from the project browser
05:10
and zooming into the area where we placed the door,
05:12
we can see that we have the door and it has the door swing as we would expect.
05:16
And if I select it,
05:18
we can see we have the controls to flip the orientation as Peroral door.
05:23
So now I'll swap back to the 3D view
05:25
and we finished placing that door in the curtain wall as we want it
05:30
looking above,
05:31
we have some smaller panels that we'd like to
05:33
replace with opening windows to provide some ventilation into the
05:37
atrium when required.
05:39
So I'll select one of these panels again, hover over the edge,
05:42
use the tab key if necessary to select it.
05:48
And we can see now that that's the system panel glazed.
05:51
So from the type selector,
05:53
we'll change this to be the
05:55
curtain wall all
05:56
in window that we loaded earlier,
05:58
we can see straight away now that that fits into that panel
06:01
and we can see the frame of the window around the edge.
06:04
So now we want to do the same for the other smaller panels,
06:08
but to do this, we'll go to the modify ribbon tab first
06:12
and then from the clipboard panel, we'll choose the match type properties tool.
06:17
We'll select the curtain wall awning window as the object to copy.
06:21
And then we can simply go to the other panels
06:23
and click to paste that into those panels there.
06:29
So I choose modify to finish the match type properties tour
06:32
and that completes placing the doors and windows into this curtain wall.
