In Inventor, you can easily add 3D assets to your layout from the library of assets within the Factory Asset Browser.

In this exercise, you use the Asset Browser to add several robots and conveyer rollers to a layout.

First, in the Layout Browser, expand the Select an Option dropdown and choose Open Layout.

Navigate to and open an existing layout file.

To follow along with this tutorial, navigate to the …\FDU Tutorials\Tutorial 1-3 folder and open the drawing file named New Cell 002.

Next, open the Inventor Factory Asset Browser, if it is not already open.

With your layout open in Inventor, on the Factory tab, Tools panel, expand Palettes and select Asset Browser.

The Asset Browser opens and displays the factory asset folders.

To move the Asset Browser, click and drag it to a new location.

Now, locate and open the folder containing the asset you want to add—in this case, the Favorites folder.

Click Refresh to refresh the assets in the list to include any recent changes.

Click the asset and drag it into the desired location of the layout.

Here, drag the Robot 7th Axis near the riser.

The connectors built into the assets should easily snap to one another.

Click the layout to place the asset.

Then, right-click and select Done.

Follow this same process to add two copies of the robot IRB6600_225_225 near the riser.

Click and drag the first robot into the layout and place it at the left side of the Robot 7th Axis object.

In the Asset Browser, navigate to the Roller Conveyors directory by selecting System Assets > Conveyor > Roller.

Place two Straight Roller Conveyors in the layout.

Click and drag the first one near the left opening in the safety fencing.

The orientation triad appears when you click to place the asset.

Use the appropriate axis of the triad to move or rotate the asset into position.

Then, click to place the second conveyer in the other opening.
