Fusion CORE: Design
Course overview
If you’re new to design, this course introduces foundational approaches for turning ideas into developed concepts in Fusion. You’ll learn how designers balance requirements and constraints, evaluate options, and make decisions as a design evolves. You’ll apply these concepts to a Formula SAE wheel project, using different modeling approaches to create and refine your design.
Along the way, you’ll create and control surfaces, develop a freeform tire model, build patterned tread features, add raised lettering, and use appearances and rendering to communicate your design. Guided workflows, practice, and challenges will help you build a foundation for more specialized design learning.

After completing this course, you'll be able to:
- Describe how designers explore, develop, and refine geometry
- Create and manipulate freeform bodies
- Create 2D sketches
- Create 3D solid features
- Create 3D surfaces
- Apply features such as fillets, holes, and patterns
