Simplify the Model

In this lesson, you’ll take an existing assembly and prepare it for export as BIM content for reuse in Autodesk Revit. The process begins with simplifying the data to reduce the amount of data as well as protecting intellectual property using Shrinkwrap.

The completed exercise

  1. Open Furnace – Start.iam file.
  2. Change the model to the Gas Furnace iAssembly configuration.
  3. Select the BIM Content tool on the Environments tab.
  4. Launch the Shrinkwrap Substitute tool, filter out the internal components.
  5. Remove all of the Fillets.
  6. Keep the bodies separate.
  7. Click OK to generate the simplified model and save the you work on the completed model.
