Step-by-step:

An extended period simulation, or EPS, is a modeling run that evaluates system hydraulics for a duration greater than a single hydraulic timestep. InfoWater Pro provides many tools for customizing an EPS, and the first step is to configure the time options for it.

  1. Open the appropriate .aprx file in ArcGIS Pro.
  2. From the ribbon, InfoWater Pro tab, Project panel, click Initialize.

Create a new simulation:

  1. In the Model Explorer, Operation tab, expand Simulation Time.
  2. Double-click BASE, Base Simulation Time.
The Model Explorer, with a specific Simulation Time selected.
  3. In the Simulation Time dialog box, click New.
The Simulation Time dialog box, with the New command selected.
  4. In the New Simulation Time popup, in the New ID field, type “EPS, Extended Period Simulation”.
  5. Click OK.
The New Simulation Time dialog box, with the New ID field entered for an extended period simulation.
  6. In the Simulation Time dialog box, deselect Steady State.
  7. In the table, set Duration to 24 so the setting can be used for a 24-hour analysis.

Because the hydraulic timestep for this exercise is 1 hour, the quality timestep should be 1/10th of the hydraulic timestep or 0.1 hours.

  1. In the Decimal Time column, set Quality Timestep to .1000.
The Simulation Time dialog box, with the Quality Timestep row highlighted.
  2. Close the Simulation Time dialog box.

This time setting may now be used for a 24-hour analysis for any scenario for this model via selection from the Run Manager.
