Okay, so let's talk about selecting points in the scene here.
00:08
So I'm going to go ahead and turn off the mirror balls and the annotations to get those out of the way.
00:14
And we can see there's a laser scan device that was left here from another scan across the way.
00:20
So I want to take this out, but I don't really want to lose the ground features here.
00:23
So the way I'm going to do that is create a limit box, and if I hover down here at the bottom,
00:28
I can use the Pick option to select nearby this device or I can just click on it here.
00:33
It's going to try to give me a box that's surrounding that object there.
00:37
And then I'm going to expand this box out a bit by going along the very edge to select these planes and drag this out,
00:44
just to make sure that I include all the points, drag this down at the bottom as well.
00:51
And I mentioned before I do want to leave the ground plane.
00:55
So I want to go up just enough so that I'm not including those in the box here.
01:00
Bring this out, capture all the legs of the device, Tripod, and then we will get this last side over here.
01:13
Okay, that's good there.
01:14
So I'll go ahead and confirm this, and I'll just jump to the top view, do a window selection here, and then I'll press the Delete key
01:23
or I can click down here at the bottom to delete those points, and then I'll go ahead and reset this limit box.
01:30
We can see that that's taken the device out of there.
01:32
I did miss portion at the top, but you can get the concept there that you can remove points from space by
01:40
limiting what's in the view and then deleting those.
01:43
Okay, so it's important to note that there are some options here now that I've deleted some points.
01:47
When I go to save this project, it's going to ask me if I want to optimize the project.
01:53
So if I leave it as "do not optimize", basically none of the points will be deleted or marked for deletion, or burned out of the point cloud.
02:02
If I optimize the point cloud only, it's going to go ahead and mark those points as deleted.
02:07
I can still recover those at a later time, but it's going to help improve the load time for the point cloud, those won't be loaded when it's opened.
02:14
And then you can also optimize the point cloud and modify the RealView.
02:18
So you can perhaps add a color in here for points that have been deleted or you can just blur the image where those points have been removed.
02:27
So we'll just set this to a dark color, click "OK", and let that run, and let this optimize.
02:36
So now that the project has been saved and optimized, if we go into any one of these RealViews here,
02:44
we can see that the points that have been erased are blacked out here.
02:50
You can't really see those in the view, and I'll just jump over to another one here, and then look back that direction.
02:59
And we can see that the same thing has occurred in this RealView as well.
