Export extracted features from ReCap Viewer to detailed design
Export extracted features from Recap Viewer as LandXML, DXF, or CSV files, and import them into design products, such as Civil 3D.

Once you have extracted reference points and linear features from a point cloud dataset,

you can export the features to use in other projects, and in other design products, such as Civil 3D.

In the ReCap Viewer, open the Project Browser.

From the Features tab, hover over the specific feature to export.

Click More to expand the drop-down, and then select Export.

In the Export dialog, select a File Type.

You can choose to export DXF, LandXML, or CSV files.

In this example, LandXML is selected.

Click Export to export the file to your computer.

In this case, a file of each type is exported.

You can then import the extracted point cloud features into other design software.

In this example, to import the previously exported DXF file into Civil 3D, click Open, select the file, and then click Open.

Once imported, on the ViewCube, click the Home button to bring the object to the center of the view.

Next, to import the LandXML file into Civil 3D, on the Insert tab, Import panel, click LandXML.

Again, select the exported file, and then click Open.

Lastly, to import the CSV file into Civil 3D, from the Import panel, click Points from File.

In the Import Points dialog, click Add (+) to open the Select Source File dialog.

Select the CSV file, and then click Open.

Back in the Import Points dialog, the Preview loads.

In the Specify point file format list, select PENZD (comma delimited).

Click OK to import the CSV file.

Once the file is loaded, click Home.

If it looks like nothing is there, as in this case, right-click the drawing and choose Quick Select.
