We often need other team members to work on the project at the same time
00:07
to ensure that deadlines are met.
00:10
Work sharing is the tool that's used in rev
00:12
to allow multiple people to access and edit the model simultaneously
00:16
to enable work sharing. We go to the collaborate ribbon tab
00:20
and from the managed collaboration panel, we'll choose to collaborate
00:27
were presented with two options.
00:30
You can choose to collaborate using the
00:31
BM 360 document management cloud service which allows
00:35
us to share with people outside of our
00:37
organization and outside of our local network.
00:40
Alternatively, we can share within our network,
00:43
which means people that are actually physically logged on to
00:45
our network will be able to share with us.
00:48
And this is the option we'll choose.
00:50
So we'll choose. OK.
00:51
And now after a few seconds,
00:54
the work sharing will be enabled.
00:56
And I can see that if I select one of my objects
00:59
looking at its properties. Here,
01:01
we have a parameter for works set and it's currently set to be works set one.
01:06
So all of the objects in the project now have the work set parameter
01:11
and going back to the collaborate ribbon tab and choosing work sets,
01:16
we can see that we have shared levels and grids as a work set
01:19
and also work set one.
01:21
And currently
01:22
I'm set to be the owner of both of those work sets.
01:27
We're not going to make any changes at the moment. So we'll choose. OK.
01:30
And before we continue much further, we've editing this file,
01:33
we need to save it to save it as a central model.
01:38
So from the quick access toolbar, I'll choose save
01:41
and we get a warning just letting us know that this is
01:44
the first time it's been saved since the work show was enabled.
01:47
And therefore, if we continue, it will be created as a central model.
01:50
So we'll choose yes to continue.
01:53
Now, this file will be saved as a central file
01:57
as we still have the central file open.
01:60
Other users cannot yet use this file
02:02
in order to use work sharing properly, we need to work in a local file.
02:07
So to do this, we'll close the central model down. But before I do that,
02:11
I need to relinquish all of the objects that I own.
02:14
So from the collaborate ribbon tab on the synchronized panel,
02:17
I choose relinquish all mine.
02:21
And then going back to the work sets,
02:23
I can now see that I'm no longer the owner of those work sets
02:27
and they've been relinquished when we chose to relinquish all mine,
02:31
so which she was OK?
02:33
And now we can close this file down
02:39
looking at the
02:39
home page,
02:41
we can see on the recent files tab here, our home studio
02:44
and we can see it now has the marker here to indicate that it's a central model.
02:49
And if I now select to open this file,
02:52
we'll get a message here
02:53
letting us know that we'll actually create a local copy of the file.
02:58
So we'll choose OK to continue.
03:02
And now we have a local copy of the home studio central model open,
03:06
looking up at the very top of the rabbit window here,
03:09
we can see the version of the software we're using
03:11
and looking at the file name that we have open.
03:13
It has my user name appended to that.
03:16
And this is a local copy that's now stored on my local machine
03:20
as opposed to the central model that we created on the network.
