Assign PCB material to an electronics enclosure model

Assign a material of PCB to the two printed circuit boards in an electronics enclosure model.

Video language:

00:03

To prepare for running an electronics enclosure simulation in Autodesk CFD, you must specify the physical characteristics of the model.

00:12

This includes assigning materials to model parts, such as assigning a PCB material to two printed circuit boards.

00:20

To start, press CTRL and middle-click the Air part to hide it.

00:24

Left-click to select the two PCBs.

00:27

Then, on the ribbon, in the Setup tab, Materials panel, click Edit.

00:33

The Materials quick edit dialog opens, where you can select the material type.

00:38

For this example, under Property settings, click the Type value to expand the drop-down, and select Solid.

00:46

Next, expand the Name drop-down and select PCB 12-Layer(Y).

00:51

Click Apply.

00:53

To verify that the PCB material is properly assigned,

00:57

in the Design Study Bar, confirm the material assignment for the PCB 12-Layer(Y) parts.

01:03

Then, in the graphics window, ensure that the color of the two PCB parts now matches the PCB 12-Layer(Y) color in the legend.

01:12

With this material assigned, you are ready to move on to the next step of preparing your model for a CFD simulation.
