Add 3D objects to your model using the Library, Create Objects mode, the Quick Library, and Port Connections.

In FlexSim, 3D objects are the basic building blocks for 3D models.
00:09
There are multiple ways to add 3D objects to your model,
00:13
including the Library, the Create Objects mode, the Quick Library, and the creation of Port Connections.
00:21
Take some time to explore the different methods.
00:24
Begin with your model open in FlexSim.
00:27
The first way to add an object is through the Library.
00:31
Click and drag an object you want to use from the Library and place it in your model.
00:36
To place multiples of the same object in your model, enable the Create Objects mode by simply clicking one of the objects in the Library.
00:45
Notice that the Create Objects icon appears over the cursor while in this mode.
00:49
Now, click directly in the model to place multiples of the object.
00:54
To exit Create Objects mode, right-click your mouse.
00:59
Next, double-click in the model to open The Quick Library.
01:03
This allows you to easily access Library objects directly from within the model.
01:08
Click an object to add it to your model.
01:11
The Quick Library automatically closes.
01:14
To add more objects simply double-click again to re-open the Quick Library.
01:20
Lastly, you can add objects to your model by creating a Port Connection from an existing object into empty space.
01:27
There are two main types of Port Connections:
01:30
an input/output connection, also called an A connection, connects two fixed resources, so that they can exchange flow items.
01:39
A center connection, also called an S connection, connects two objects that need to reference each other,
01:45
allowing the objects to communicate and interact.
01:49
The name of each connection denotes its shortcut.
01:52
Simply press and hold A or S to create the respective connection.
01:57
Select an object, then press and hold A.
02:01
The Quick Library opens and displays only those objects that can receive an A connection from the selected object.
02:09
Select the object to connect.
02:12
Next, select the same object, then press and hold S to create the corresponding connection.
02:20
Now, the Quick Library displays the objects that can receive center connections.
02:25
Select an object to complete the connection.
02:29
Back in the model, notice the difference in the connections—the A connection displays an arrow at each port,
02:35
while the S connection displays a square.
02:38
Now you can add objects to your 3D model using the Library, Create Object mode, the Quick Library, and Port Connections.
