Organize sheet sets using subsets

Create and organize subsets of sheet sets.

00:03

You can also add subsets to help better organize the sheet set,

00:09

right, click the sheet set name and choose new subset.

00:14

The program displays the subset properties. Dialogue,

00:17

click in the subset name field, then change the subset name to architectural.

00:25

A

00:26

subset is like a visual folder in your sheet list.

00:30

By default, adding a subset does not create a folder on your hard drive.

00:35

Although you do have the option of creating folders by clicking in

00:38

the create folder hierarchy field and changing this option to yes,

00:44

leave this set to know,

00:47

leave all the other settings unchanged and simply click. OK.

00:54

Repeat these steps to add a second subset called structural.

01:02

Repeat these steps again to create a third subset called civil

01:09

and then repeat these steps one more time

01:12

to create a subset called sight.

01:18

You can also easily rename or remove a subset,

01:23

right. Click the civil subset and choose remove subset.

01:30

You can use drag and drop to rearrange sheets and subsets

01:35

drag and drop the site subset

01:38

so that it is above architectural in the list.

01:42

Now that you have created subsets,

01:44

you can move the sheets into the appropriate subsets,

01:48

select sheet A dash 01

01:52

and drag it onto the architectural subset to move it into that subset.

01:58

Then

01:59

drag and drop sheets. A dash 02,

02:03

A dash 03 and a dash 04 into the architectural subset.

02:11

Move sheet A S dash 01

02:15

into the site subset

02:20

and move sheet S dash 01

02:23

into the structural subset.

02:26

Leave the title sheet at the top of the sheet list.

02:32

You may have noticed that as you renumber sheets

02:35

or drag and drop them to new locations,

02:37

the sheet numbers do not automatically update to

02:40

reflect their position in the sheet list.

02:43

If you want the sheet numbers to correspond to their order in the sheet list,

02:48

you must manually change them

02:51

at this point.

02:51

The sheet names and numbers are doing nothing more than enabling you to

02:55

view and access your drawing sheets by knowing their sheet numbers and sheet names

03:01

rather than having to remember the drawing, file names and locations.

03:06

But as you continue to build on the sheet set functionality,

03:10

the value of sheet names and numbers will become more obvious.

03:14

For example,

03:16

in the sheet list,

03:17

double click the first floor plan sheet to open that sheet

03:22

in the title block.

03:23

You can see that the program automatically updated the sheet number

03:28

because the title block includes a field corresponding

03:32

to the sheet number in the sheet set.

03:36

Click the X in the file tabs to close the drawing.

03:40

Then

03:41

in the sheet set manager. Right. Click the sheet set

03:45

and choose close sheet set.
