Favorites are another useful option in the design center.
00:08
You can add files to your favorites so that
00:11
you don't have to browse for them each time.
00:14
Keep in mind that whenever you see add to favorites next to items,
00:19
AUTOCAD creates a shortcut to that file that the items reside in.
00:25
And when you right click and select add to favorites,
00:29
that file is stored in your favorites location.
00:33
As a result, there's no need to click on individual items
00:37
to add them to your favorites after you've already done it once.
00:41
So if I were to right, click on this particular file,
00:45
I can choose add to favorites
00:48
and once that's done,
00:49
I can go up to the favorites folder
00:52
and you'll see that that file has now been added to favorites.
00:56
Notice that it automatically brings me to the favorites folder
01:01
and in the
01:02
Autodesk folder,
01:03
we have our civil DWT
01:05
that was added.
01:07
I saved the best option for last
01:10
the search option.
01:12
If we go up and we click on the search icon,
01:16
it opens the search dialogue box.
01:19
If I go to the look for drop down,
01:21
we have more content that we can search for
01:25
and bring into our drawing
01:27
notice,
01:28
hatch patterns,
01:30
hatch pattern files,
01:32
table styles,
01:34
those categories don't show up over here,
01:37
but they do show up in the search area.
01:41
So one thing I can do
01:44
is if I want to find a hatch pattern file,
01:47
I can type in
01:50
asterisk dot pat for a wild card.
01:53
And then on path to my dataset area,
01:57
I can click search now
01:59
and just like that,
02:01
it finds a roofing Spanish tile pattern.
02:05
I can drag
02:06
or actually right click and choose load into content area
02:11
and just like that,
02:13
the hatch shows up and it points to where that file is located.
02:18
So now
02:19
if I had
02:21
an area that I wanted that hatch to be in
02:24
like a closed poly line,
02:26
I can drag and drop it.
02:28
And just like that,
02:29
the hatch comes into my drawing.
02:32
This can be much safer than grabbing an entire drawing
02:36
from a consultant or someone else outside of your office
02:40
and risking bringing corruption into your project.
