Navigate the electronics model and hide parts

Rotate, pan, zoom, and hide parts in the electronics enclosure model.

Video language:

00:03

In Autodesk CFD, you can rotate, pan, and zoom the electronics enclosure project model, as well as hide model parts,

00:12

so you can focus in on only the part of the model you need.

00:15

These essential techniques will also come in handy later when you need to assign materials to individual model parts.

00:22

Open your CFD model.

00:24

This example is an electronics enclosure that will be used for an air flow simulation,

00:30

but these navigation techniques work the same for any model.

00:33

To open up additional screen space, click the Output Bar to collapse it.

00:38

You can rotate, pan, and zoom your model using the keyboard and a three-button mouse.

00:44

To rotate the model, press SHIFT and the middle mouse button, and move the mouse.

00:49

To zoom, roll the mouse scroll wheel.

00:52

To pan, hold the middle mouse button while moving the mouse.

00:56

It can be useful to hide an exterior part to access an internal part.

01:01

For example, to visualize the internal components, first hide the casing part and then the air part.

01:07

To hide an object, hover the cursor over it and press both CTRL and the middle mouse button.

01:13

Alternatively, you can left-click the part, and then in the toolbar, click Hide.

01:19

Conversely, to show all parts, press CTRL and middle-click off the model in the graphics window.

01:25

Or, left-click a blank area off the model and then click Show All in the context toolbar.

01:32

Take some time to practice navigating your CFD model and controlling part visibility.
