Importing a schedule from another of it model can
00:06
help save time and ensure consistency between projects.
00:11
The schedules in rev,
00:12
it are a great way to present data about the design.
00:15
Although on occasion, it may be necessary to export the data to a spreadsheet
00:20
where it could be manipulated or combined with other data.
00:25
Looking at the project browser here,
00:27
we can see that we don't currently have any schedules created in this project
00:33
and rather than create new schedules,
00:35
we'd rather we use the ones that we've created in a different project.
00:41
So to do this, we will go to the insert ribbon tab
00:44
and on the load from library panel,
00:47
we'll click the insert from file, drop down
00:49
and then pick insert views from file.
00:55
Now you'll need to browse to where you have the exercise files saved
00:59
and then we'll pick the standard views rev model here
01:02
and then click open.
01:06
And now in the insert view settings here,
01:08
we can see we have the views from that standard views model listed.
01:14
We can see that we have three schedule views here.
01:16
So door room and window schedule along with some sheets.
01:20
So I'll pick the three schedules and then we'll click. Ok.
01:25
And those scheduled views will be imported into our current model.
01:29
We can see we've gone straight to the window schedule here.
01:31
However, looking down at the project browser,
01:34
we can expand the schedules and quantities group and see that
01:36
we also have the door and room schedule imported as well.
01:40
Now, looking at the window schedule,
01:42
we can see that it's brought through all
01:44
of the column headings from the previous project
01:46
along with all the formatting and grouping that was specified there.
01:50
We need to remember that although the formatting and the column
01:53
headings have been brought through all of the data in these schedules
01:57
has come from the model that we're currently looking at.
02:00
So I'll open the room schedule now
02:05
and we can see that that too has come through with
02:07
all the formatting that was set out in the previous file,
02:10
including this calculated parameter here showing the
02:12
area of the rooms in square meters.
02:17
I'll open the door schedule too.
02:20
And again,
02:21
we can see all of the column headings coming
02:23
through including a grouping of the headers here.
02:27
And also as we scroll down,
02:29
we can see we have some combined parameters
02:31
that combine the room number and name together.
02:35
And we can see now that
02:36
importing schedules from other projects in this way,
02:39
allows us to quickly create new schedules for the current project
02:43
and gives us consistent presentation throughout all of our projects
02:47
So now we'd like to look at how we can
02:49
export one of these schedules to view in a spreadsheet
02:53
first.
02:54
We need to make sure that we have a schedule
02:56
view active and we're currently looking at the door schedule.
02:58
So we would export this one
03:01
and now we'll go to the farm menu here
03:04
and we'll click on exports
03:06
and then we'll need to scroll down
03:08
to reports
03:10
and then we can choose schedules.
03:15
Now, you'll need to browse to where you want to save the exported schedule.
03:20
And we can see it's going to be called door schedule
03:22
and it will create a CS V eliminated file type.
03:27
So click save.
03:28
And now we can see we have the export schedule settings here
03:32
and we have the schedule appearance panel.
03:34
This allows us to choose which part of the title and column headers we want exported.
03:39
So
03:40
at least is all selected.
03:42
And now from the output options, we can see the filter eliminator is a comma.
03:46
So now we'll click, ok.
03:48
And that CS V file will be created in the folder that we chose.
03:53
So now I'll swap to Windows Explorer and browse
03:56
to the folder where we have saved that file.
03:58
We can see here that we have the door schedule, CS V file
04:02
and it's actually associated to the Microsoft Excel program.
04:07
So I'll double click it
04:08
to open this in Microsoft Excel.
04:11
And we can see straight away that that data has come through.
04:14
And although the formatting is not the same as it is in,
04:17
we have all of the columns and all of the data
04:19
as was displayed in rev.
04:21
And we can now start to manipulate this in any way that we need
04:25
without affecting the REV model.
04:27
So I haven't got that schedule exported into a spreadsheet
04:31
that completes importing and exporting the schedules from our model.
