So I'll select the base cabinet at the bottom here
00:06
and we can see that this is the 24 inch base cabinet type.
00:10
I'll click edit type to access its type properties
00:14
and in the materials and finishes panel here,
00:16
we can see we have a draw material parameter.
00:19
So we'll click on the bio category material
00:21
and then open the material browser from the button that appears here.
00:26
We can see that the perch material is already selected.
00:28
So we'll use this and we'll just click OK to assign it to the parameter here.
00:33
So we'll click OK to save the changes to this base cabinet.
00:37
And again,
00:38
we can see all of the instances of this cabinet in
00:40
the model here have been updated to show that new material.
00:47
We can also assign materials to individual instances of objects.
00:52
So I'll select one of the base cabinets here at the end.
00:55
Looking at the property's pallette, this shows its instant parameters.
00:60
And we can see in the materials and finishes
01:01
panel here that we have the handle material parameter.
01:04
So I'll click on this
01:06
and again, open the material browser from the button that appears
01:10
and actually we can see at the top of the materials here,
01:13
we have this bronze material.
01:14
So I'll select this
01:16
and then we'll click OK
01:18
to assign that bronze material onto the handle material instance parameter.
01:22
And looking at the view,
01:23
we can see that that material is updated on this instance of the cabinet here
01:28
with the other instance, opposite, retaining its original handle material.
01:34
Looking at the wall behind the cooker here,
01:35
we'd like to apply a tile splashback higher up the wall
01:39
and to do that
01:40
rather than creating a new wall type and assign a material, we can use the paint tool
01:46
to apply a material onto the face of this wall.
01:49
But first, I don't want to paint the entire face of the wall,
01:52
just the area here between the cabinets and the countertop.
01:56
So we can use the split face tool
01:59
to create a separate face on this wall for this particular material.
02:04
So to do this, we'll go to the modify ribbon tab
02:07
and from the geometry panel, we'll click the split face tool.
02:13
Now, we first need to select the face that we need to split.
02:16
So I'll click near the edge of the wall here to pick this front face.
02:22
Now, we can see the outline of the entire wall face here in yellow
02:27
and looking at the split face ribbon tab. Here we have the draw tools available to us.
02:32
I'll select the pick lines tool from here.
02:35
So now we'll pick on the edges of the objects to define the boundary of our tiles. So
02:40
we can pick the top of the counter top here
02:43
and then the undersides of the wall cabinets.
02:46
We got the other side of the extraction hood
02:50
and then we'll get the sides of the wall cabinets for the vertical lines.
02:54
And now we have all of those selected,
02:55
we need to trim them to create an enclosed boundary.
02:58
So from the modify ribbon tab on the modify panel,
03:01
we'll click the trim extend to corner tool.
03:04
And now we can click on the lines that we need to extend and trim
03:08
to create the corners
03:09
to create the enclosed boundary that we need.
03:12
I see this, this top line here,
03:14
we need to just extend this to the edge of the wall face here, the yellow line.
03:18
So from the modify panel here,
03:20
we'll click trim, extend single element.
03:24
Then we'll pick the face of the wall opposite as the
03:27
boundary and then click on the line here to extend.
03:31
And now you have that enclosed boundary
03:33
or click finish, edit mode to create that split face.
03:39
Now, to paint the material, we go to the modify ribbon tab
03:42
and from the geometry panel here or click the paint tool.
03:49
Then in the material browser that's opened,
03:51
we'll search for the tile material at the top here.
03:55
And now we can see we have the different tile materials available. So
03:59
we'll select the ceramic tiles six by three inch white material.
04:03
And with that selected, we can go over to the face that we've created on the model here
04:08
and just click in the middle of that to paint that tile material.
04:11
And we can see that it's now applied to that area.
04:15
So I'll click done on the material browser here to finish the paint tool.
04:21
Now, if I select the wall, we can see that that face is still part of the wall.
04:25
Whoever using the split face tool has allowed us to
04:28
paint that material into just one part of the wall.
04:32
And that now completes assigning of materials into the kitchen.
