Step-by-step:
An extended period simulation, or EPS, is a modeling run that evaluates system hydraulics for a duration greater than a single hydraulic timestep. InfoWater Pro provides many tools for customizing an EPS, and the first step is to configure the time options for it.
- Open the appropriate .aprx file in ArcGIS Pro.
- From the ribbon, InfoWater Pro tab, Project panel, click Initialize.
Create a new simulation:
- In the Model Explorer, Operation tab, expand Simulation Time.
- Double-click BASE, Base Simulation Time.
- In the Simulation Time dialog box, click New.
- In the New Simulation Time popup, in the New ID field, type “EPS, Extended Period Simulation”.
- Click OK.
- In the Simulation Time dialog box, deselect Steady State.
- In the table, set Duration to 24 so the setting can be used for a 24-hour analysis.
Because the hydraulic timestep for this exercise is 1 hour, the quality timestep should be 1/10th of the hydraulic timestep or 0.1 hours.
- In the Decimal Time column, set Quality Timestep to .1000.
- Close the Simulation Time dialog box.
This time setting may now be used for a 24-hour analysis for any scenario for this model via selection from the Run Manager.
