Looking at the horizontal grid lines spreading up the curtain wall.
00:07
OK. So we also have a smaller panel at the top
00:10
and we could use an alternative way to set these grid lines out.
00:14
So whilst it's still selected,
00:17
we'll click edit type from the properties pallette
00:19
to access those type properties again.
00:24
And in the horizontal grid panel,
00:25
I'll change the layout parameter from fixed distance to fixed number.
00:31
When we do this, we can see that the spa
00:33
in parameter is now grayed out as this will be controlled by the
00:36
number of grid lines that we choose for each individual current wall.
00:40
I'll click, OK to apply these changes.
00:44
And now straight away,
00:45
I can see that we have equally sized panels going up the curtain wall
00:50
and looking at the properties pallet,
00:52
we can see on the horizontal grid panel that we now have the number parameter active
00:56
and I can adjust the number of grid lines. So if I increase this to say seven
01:01
and apply it, we can see that we have a lot of smaller panels spreading up the wall
01:05
or I'll adjust it down to two.
01:08
And now when we apply this,
01:09
we can see we have two grid lines which will
01:11
give us three larger panels equally spaced on this wall.
01:16
I'll close down the plan view tab now.
01:18
So we have just the exterior perspective view open.
01:22
And we can see that we have the curtain wall,
01:24
which is the host for the curtain grid lines. And also the glaze panel
01:28
with the curtain grid lines being used to
01:30
create the multiple panels within the wall.
01:34
A mullion family can also be specified in the
01:36
type properties to be placed along the curtain grid lines
01:40
to do this.
01:41
Let's select the curtain wall
01:43
and then click edit type to access the type properties once more.
01:49
So now looking at the type parameters,
01:51
we can see we have panels for vertical mullions and horizontal mullions.
01:56
We have parameters for the interior and the BS
01:59
and currently they're all set to be none.
02:02
So I'll click none. And then from the list of available mullions
02:05
we'll assign in the rectangular mullion
02:11
we need to do this for all of the different malls.
02:15
So once we've got that complete,
02:17
we can then click. OK.
02:19
And those mullions will be applied
02:21
to the outside of the curtain wall and also between all of the panels.
02:26
So now we just want the curtain wall to extend up to the roof.
02:32
So to do this, we'll select the curtain wall
02:36
and then from the modify walls ribbon tab, choose the attached top base tool
02:43
in the options bar. We can see that it's set to attach the top of the wall.
02:47
So now we just need to click the roof
02:50
and then we can see that the curtain wall is extended up to the roof.
02:53
However, we've got a warning message that we can't ignore.
02:55
And it's letting us know that the previous set of mullions that
02:58
were on the top of the curtain wall need to be deleted.
03:00
So
03:01
we'll click delete elements.
03:03
And now we can see our curtain wall extended up to the underside of the roof
03:07
with the mullions. Now following the line of the roof.
03:13
So that finishes that curtain wall
03:15
and now panning around to the end of the atrium. Here,
03:18
we can see we have a curtain wall on this end elevation.
03:23
If I select this,
03:24
we can see it's the curtain wall type glaze panels, 5 ft by 8 ft.
03:29
So from the type selector,
03:31
we'll click and change it to the curtain wall panels type that we've just created.
03:36
And now we can see from the properties pallet,
03:38
we can change the horizontal grid number.
03:40
So we'll change this to two
03:42
once that's applied,
03:43
we can see that update in the model showing us how we
03:46
can swap between different curtain wall types and adjust their parameters.
03:52
We can also do this to basic walls. So zooming out and
03:55
panning around to the tower in the model here,
03:58
we can see we have these basic walls
04:01
and I'll select all of them just using the control key to multiple, select them.
04:07
And that is selected in the top of the properties.
04:10
So we can see there are basic walls of multiple types.
04:12
If we click this type selector,
04:15
we can choose a curtain wall type.
04:18
So we'll choose the curtain wall panels which is created.
04:21
And then we can see this has been applied to those basic walls
04:24
and they now have the panels and the mullions. As we set up in the type properties,
04:29
we can also see from the horizontal grid panel, we can adjust the number.
04:32
So I'll change this to three.
04:34
And again,
04:35
we can see that update on these walls that have now been changed into a curtain wall.
04:40
So this shows us how we can create
04:42
different design options quickly using that technique.
