In InfraWorks, if you need to make a change to GIS data that is connected to ESRI ArcGIS Online,
00:11
you can perform a Save Back in InfraWorks, where any change you make in your model also updates the feature data in ArcGIS Online.
00:20
In a model already open in InfraWorks, make a change.
00:25
For example, click and drag a manhole.
00:28
Then, in the Data Sources panel, locate the manhole structure.
00:32
Right-click the manhole structure and select Save back….
00:37
A loading dialog displays the progress, and then, when it's finished, a success notification appears.
00:44
Next, open ArcGIS.
00:46
Notice that the manhole structure location has updated accordingly.
00:51
Keep in mind, though, that while the manhole has moved, the pipes have not.
00:56
Back in InfraWorks, it is simple to match the manhole location.
01:01
To do this and Save Back the changes, select one of the pipes attached to the manhole you moved.
01:08
Then, in the Pipe panel, click one of the attribute values, but do not change it.
01:13
Instead, just press Enter.
01:16
InfraWorks recognizes this as a change, which will update the pipes.
01:21
In the Data Sources panel, locate the Pipe data source, then right-click it and select Save back….
01:29
To review the changes back in ArcGIS, select the pipe you updated and review the data in the dialog box.
01:37
As you can see, the pipe data is accurate, so the changes will show up in the right location in ArcGIS Online.
01:46
Now, it is time to update the pipe diameter attribute.
01:51
To do this, back in InfraWorks, in the model, zoom in and pan the view to select the front sewer pipe.
01:59
From the Pipe panel , ArcGIS group, in the InsideDiameter field, set the value to 3.5 feet, and set the OutsideDiameter to 4.0 feet.
02:10
Repeat this process for the next downstream pipe.
02:13
Then, in the Data Sources panel, locate the Pipe data source and right-click it.
02:19
Select Save back….
02:20
Once the loading is complete, open ArcGIS, where the pipe diameter attributes automatically updated.
02:28
Select a pipe, and you can see the new inside and outside diameter values.
02:34
With Save Back, changes you make inside of InfraWorks also update the feature data in ArcGIS Online.
02:41
However, keep in mind that some InfraWorks features cannot be saved back to the original ArcGIS data layer.
02:49
If you want to be able to save back changes later,
02:52
you can assign the InfraWorks feature types that support Save Back
02:56
when you add data layers to an InfraWorks model from the Autodesk Connector for ArcGIS.
03:03
Consult the Autodesk InfraWorks help pages for a full list of features that will work with Save Back.
