This is one of the standard AUTOCAD sample files that
00:06
you'll see in the start tab right after an installation,
00:09
it's a floor plan of a building with a lot
00:11
of offices and furnishings that are all inserted as blocks.
00:15
We're going to need to display the blocks pallet. If it's not already visible,
00:18
go to the view tab of the ribbon. And within the pallets panel, you'll find blocks,
00:23
click on it to display the blocks pallet
00:26
place and resize the pallet similar to what I am showing.
00:29
Let's go over the various parts of the pallet. First
00:33
in the upper left is a filter field which when you click on,
00:36
it will contain a single asterisk wildcard
00:39
drawings can potentially have hundreds of blocks.
00:42
So being able to filter for what you want is very important
00:45
here. I'm filtering for the two blocks that start with FC.
00:49
I'll exit the filter by clicking on the X.
00:52
Next to the filter box is a small icon that
00:55
will let you navigate to an existing file to insert.
00:58
Beside that it's where you can control the display of the blocks panel.
01:02
You can go from extra large to a simple list,
01:05
the right side of the dialogue has four tabs.
01:08
We'll talk about each in more detail,
01:10
but you can see that they are current drawing, recent
01:14
favorites and libraries.
01:16
Let's make sure that current drawing is selected.
01:19
Finally, you'll see the large current drawing blocks panel
01:23
and below that is the insertion options panel,
01:25
the options panel can be collapsed if you want,
01:28
we'll leave it expanded.
