Let's insert a couple of blocks from the pallet
00:06
first though we'll zoom into the office near the yellow atrium labeled 6002.
00:11
Also at this time,
00:12
make sure that the insertion point is the only thing checked in the options panel.
00:17
We're going to be inserting the chair seven block.
00:20
So let's change our current layer to chairs
00:23
to insert the block from a pallet autocad supports both types of users,
00:27
the pick and clickers and the press and dragger.
00:31
This of course means that you can either click to select the block,
00:34
then click again to place it
00:36
or you can press and hold your left mouse button and drag it into place.
00:40
Actually, there's a third type of user supported. Also,
00:43
that's the right clicker.
00:44
I'll right click on the chair seven block and you'll
00:47
see an option to insert or insert and explode.
00:51
I'll press the escape key to dismiss the menu.
00:54
Functionally, they work the same as the pick and click method.
00:57
So let's start there.
00:59
I'll left click once on the chair seven block
01:02
and then click again somewhere within the office.
01:05
Notice that's all it does. I get no options whatsoever.
01:09
There's no scale rotation or any other option.
01:12
That's because only insertion point is checked in the options panel.
01:16
If I turn it off, you'll be forced to enter the coordinates in the panel.
01:20
I'll keep it checked.
01:22
I'll check scale and rotation and do it again.
01:25
Click on the block
01:26
and then click again in the editor.
01:28
This time you are prompted for scale and rotation.
01:31
I'll accept the defaults by pressing, enter on my keyboard
01:34
again. Let's uncheck, scale and rotation.
01:38
And let's use the click and pick method again.
01:41
This time we'll stop short of picking the insertion point
01:45
as we just saw since scale and rotation are now off,
01:49
you won't be prompted for them.
01:50
But if you're using dynamic input as I am here,
01:54
you can still get to them in the drop down menu.
01:56
But you have to do so before you place the block,
01:60
I'll use the arrow down key to get to rotation and select it.
02:04
I'll type in 45 and press enter.
02:07
I'll now left, click to place the block in the editor.
02:11
So that's it for the pick and click and the right click functionality.
02:15
Let's look at how the press and drag method works
02:18
again. Let's check the scale and rotation options.
02:21
Now I'll left, click on the block, keep the mouse key pressed down
02:25
and drag the block into the editor.
02:27
I'll release the mouse button to place it
02:30
with this method even though you have insertion options checked,
02:33
you won't get prompted for them.
02:35
You also won't have the ability to use object snaps when using this method.
02:40
Pick and click is the preferred method.
02:42
But if you do press and drag, just be aware of those limitations.
