It is important to know that a single element, like a duct, pipe, conduit, or cable tray,

as well as an entire system can be converted to fabrication parts in Revit.

But be aware that not all MEP elements can be converted.

Also, because the design elements are actually converted to fabrication parts in the model,

it is best practice to create a copy of the model whenever you plan to convert design content to fabrication parts.

To begin this exercise, hover the cursor over an element and press TAB to highlight the chain of connected elements.

Then, click to select all the highlighted elements.

Once you have selected all the elements you want to convert, on the Modify | Multi-Select contextual ribbon, click Design to Fabrication.

The Design to Fabrication dialog box appears.

Here, the applicable fabrication services that are loaded also appear.

Select a service, and then click OK.

Once you do, the fabrication parts are created, replacing all the design elements that are supported for the conversion process.

Keep in mind, though, that a warning dialog might appear due to open connectors or a part exceeding the standard length.

Finally, double-check the portions of the model you converted
