Apply constraints with Auto Constrain in AutoCAD

Apply constraints to a selection of geometry using Auto Constrain.

00:04

Now that we've discussed geometric constraints.

00:06

Let's use the auto constrain option.

00:11

If we select our geometry

00:15

and press enter

00:16

the auto constrain option adds constraints to the geometry.

00:21

This is usually suggested for more simple geometry types such as rectangles

00:26

because sometimes this option will add constraints that you may not want.

00:31

You can always edit the constraints afterwards. If needed.

00:34

One last note on this, if you do not want to see the constraint icons on the screen,

00:40

click the hide all button,

00:43

any icons go away.

00:46

Let's take a look at the result of how some of these constraints work.

00:52

Notice how a large majority of the geometry stays together

00:58

so that the assembly

00:60

won't be accidentally broken apart.
