Visualization and documentation of the bridge design

Creating compelling visuals for stakeholders streamlines the approval process. When you have the design right where you want it, you can document the design.

Course overview

Project Visuals in InfraWorks

Creating compelling visuals for stakeholders streamlines the approval process. Use InfraWorks tools to create both rendered images of the bridge in context of its surroundings and animated walk throughs to help you better communicate the design intent.

Use Civil 3D to Document the Road Design

When you have the design right where you want it, you can document the design. Taking advantage of Sheet Set Manager can speed up the creation of plan and profile sheets.

Documenting and Scheduling Bridge Components

Next you will export the InfraWorks bridge to Revit for documentation. Here you can tag, dimension, detail and schedule the bridge components.

This module takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. By the end of the module, you should be able to:

  • Prepare the model for animation
  • Create camera views for the animation
  • Add visual details to the model
  • Export the storyboard to a video

Module pre-requisites

This module requires user-level knowledge of InfraWorks and is focused on best practices and its industry applications. If you don't have experience with this product, we recommend you to take foundational training using one of the resources below:

Use Civil 3D to document the road design

When you have the design right where you want it, you can document the design. Taking advantage of Sheet Set Manager can speed up the creation of the Plan and Profile sheets. In this module, you learn how to cut the plan and profile up into sheet-sized views, then make modifications as necessary.

Documenting and Scheduling Bridge Components

Revit is used for bridge design documentation. Here you can tag, dimension, detail and schedule the bridge components. The advantage of exporting the bridge to Revit is that if the InfraWorks model updates, anyone who has the bridge open in Revit will receive a notification that a sync is required. Learn how to add tags and schedules for documenting the design.

Scheduling rebar

Revit is used for adding bridge design details and for documentation. Once you have added rebar to your bridge model, you can create a rebar schedule to calculate the total rebar length for each rebar size being used in the model. In this module, you learn how to create rebar schedules and export them to Excel.
