Add compression springs and other elements
Any referenced datasets can be downloaded from "Module downloads" in the module overview.
Create compression springs - Exercise
- Open the Belt Driven Reducer - Springs.iam assembly file from your working folder.Â
 - Activate the Design tab from the Inventor ribbon.Â
 - Select Compression Spring from the Frame panel.

 - Set the Spring Diameter to Inner.Â
 - Set D2 to 1.1.

 - Activate the Calculation tab from the dialog box.
 - On the Calculation tab, make the following changes: 
- Change Design Type to F8, D, Assembly Dimensions -> d, L0, n, F1.Â
 - Enter 300 for Max Load.Â
 - Enter 175 for Working Load.Â
 - Check the box under Spring Material.Â
 - Choose Oil-tempered steel wire QQ-W-428 from the list.Â
 - Enter 1.5 for Min. Load Length.

 
 - Click Calculate.Â
 - Return to the Design tab.Â
 - Activate the Axis selector button.
 - Choose the outer cylindrical surface of the shaft (as shown).

 - Select the front face of the grey gear for the Start Plane (as shown).

 - Click OK to create the spring.
 - Save and Close the model.
