Learn Docs and Takeoff in 90 minutes
Course overview
Whether you’re new to Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) or adding to your BIM skillset, this course guides you through key workflows for document management and takeoff. You’ll begin with an overview of the ACC interface and products and learn the basics of opening a project and using files in Autodesk Docs. Then you’ll navigate 3D models, measure geometry, and query metadata. Next, you’ll evaluate Revit models and sheet sets, measure areas, and perform cross‑version comparisons to identify changes. In the design review module, you’ll learn to publish markups and create/resolving issues. Finally, you’ll use Autodesk Takeoff to create packages, define takeoff types for structural elements, and execute both 2D and 3D takeoffs to calculate counts, lengths, areas, and volumes. By course end, you’ll be equipped to integrate Docs and Takeoff into project workflows and accurately quantify building components.
After completing this course, you’ll be able to:
- Describe the functions of the Autodesk Construction Cloud products.
- Navigate the Autodesk Docs interface to locate and open files.
- Use viewing tools such as ViewCube, pan, zoom, and section planes to explore 3D models.
- Measure distances, areas, and obtain metadata with the Measure and Properties tools.
- Evaluate 2D sheet sets.
- Compare different versions of sheets and models to identify changes.
- Publish markups and create/resolve issues to communicate design issues.
- Create and configure takeoff packages for 2D and 3D takeoffs.
- Perform 2D and 3D takeoffs to count, measure lengths, compute areas, and calculate volumes.

Instructor guide to ACC setup
This video guide is designed for instructors to help them get started with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) in their classroom. It is assumed that you have Account Administrator access in ACC and a hub. The steps in the video should be followed so that students can use the datasets and follow along with the course videos.
Note: Assigning ACC licenses to students should be performed through ACC (acc.autodesk.com) and not the Autodesk Account page. Assigning licenses to other products such as Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Cloud Worksharing, etc. is performed through the Autodesk Account page (manage.autodesk.com).
After completing this video you’ll be able to:
• Add students as account members and assigning ACC licenses in ACC.
• Create the ACC project.
• Invite members (students) to a project and assign products and access levels.
• Create project folders and assign permissions.
• Set up Takeoff to use the project in the course.
