The project navigation menu
The global menu allows you to navigate through Flow Production Tracking at a high level, regardless of individual projects. You can find Media, People, and Pages, all at a site level.
The project menu is how users will navigate around a Project. Every Project on your site can have its own unique navigation menu. As most users will find themselves working within Projects, the Project navigation is one of the main ways users will interact with Flow Production Tracking.
Take a look at a typical project navigation menu:
- On the left-hand side, users will see the name of the Project they are currently navigating in. Â
- To the right of the Project name, there is a series of tabs that reflect the available entities within that Project.
- Since there are too many entities to be displayed in any one project navigation menu, each project navigation menu contains an "Other" tab, that will display any of the entities that are not visible in the main display.
- Which entities are visible in the main display menu versus which ones show up under the "Other" tab is customizable.
- "Project Pages" shows all pages that have been created within this Project.
- On the right-hand side, the project navigation and templates can be configured from "Project Actions".
While the global menu allows users to find Media, People, and Pages at a site level, the project menu narrows down that information to only what’s contained within that project.
The global navigation menu will stay the same, regardless of which project you’re working in. Only the project navigation menus will change.
The options your users have available in a particular Project menu will reflect the entities that are being tracked within that Project.
Flow Production Tracking has several built-in Project templates, each with a slightly different Project navigation that relates to that project's schema:
- The Film VFX Template lists Sequences and Shots in the project navigation.
- The Episodic TV Template lists Episodes in the project navigation.
- The Game Template lists Levels in the project navigation.
Each entity page contains data about that entity. For example:
- An Assets page will show a list of assets.
- A Levels page will show a list of levels.
- A Time Logs page will show a list of time logs.
When users select any of the menu options in the project navigation, the results provided back will only be those linked to that specific project. For example, a page showing Assets selected from within a project’s navigation will only show results of assets from within that project.
Pages can be viewed in different ways and customized to show you only the data that users need.
