Filter records using the Filter panel

Filter records using the Filter panel

The Filter panel is where users can filter results on a page. Filters allow a set of records to quickly narrow down large lists of information.

Entity pages can be filtered using fields from that entity. For example, Tasks can be filtered by Status and Assigned To, which are both fields that exist on the Task entity.

Tasks can be filtered by Status and Assigned To

Each filter can be collapsed or expanded using the small arrow button to the left of the filter name. In the example below, the Status and Pipeline Step filters are collapsed, while the Assigned To filter is expanded.

Filters can be inclusive or exclusive. In the example below, users can search for Tasks where the Status is In Progress.

Alternatively, users can also search for Tasks where the Status is not In Progress. To change whether a status includes or excludes filter options, select the = symbol to the right of the filter name.

The multi-directional arrows allow the filter to be dragged into a different order in the filter panel.

The gear icon allows filters to be reset or removed from the filter panel.

Each filter option displays its icon, long name, short name, and total results.

If there are many available filter options, they may be truncated. To expand the available options within a truncated filter, select Show more…

In the example below, all Status options are now available to filter.

Instead of expanding a truncated filter list, users can simply type the name of the specific field condition they are looking for in the search bar. In the example below, Jordan is not listed in the filter options, so her name is typed into the search bar. Flow Production Tracking auto fills the search bar with results related to that specific field.

Once the correct filter option is displayed, selecting it will filter the page by that option.

Just like fields can be added to a page, filters can be added to the filter panel. Not all available fields will be displayed in the filter panel. To add or remove a field, at the bottom of the filter panel select More Filters.

From here, users can select or deselect any filters they want visible or hidden. Visible fields display a checkmark to the left of their name.

Saved filters allow users to create more complex filters than the filter panel allows. Any saved page filters will be available at the top of the filter menu. The currently applied filter will be highlighted in blue.

Creating saved filters will be covered in a future module. Select Edit to see the conditions of any saved filter.
