Documentation in a BIM workflow
Module overview
This section highlights the key role of information requirements in the building Iinformation modeling (BIM) process, ensuring efficient collaboration, compliance, and structured data management across the project lifecycle. You’ll learn how key documents, including the BIM execution plan (BEP) and asset information requirements (AIR), guide the creation, organization, and exchange of structured project data.
To work along with some of the video lessons in this module, students will need access to Interoperability Tools for Revit. The interoperability tools are add-ins for Revit designed to help architects, engineers, contractors and owners with their BIM workflows. The guide provided in the Teaching Supplements details the installation of the Revit extension.
For an additional final challenge, go to the course downloads and perform the steps in the course challenge exercise to convert 2D plans to a 3D informational model. After you’ve completed the walled model, push your skills further to apply information to the asset and then export it to share with others in a structured format.
