Introduction to BIM for Civil Design and Engineering
Course overview
Dive deep into the world of structural modeling and documentation, starting with the basics and progressing to advanced concepts. You'll begin by crafting a structural model based on a linked architectural design laying the groundwork with structural levels and grids.
From there, immerse yourself in the intricacies of foundation and steel design and then learn how to place floors, slabs, and reinforcement in your model. You’ll create different views of the model to display information, culminating in the creation of professional-grade construction documents. Kickstart your journey with Civil 3D and ACC by mastering how these tools can streamline civil engineering projects. Civil 3D offers advanced design capabilities for grading, alignments, and surfaces, while ACC transforms collaboration, project management, and data sharing across teams. Together, they can improve efficiency, accuracy, and communication throughout the project lifecycle. Familiarizing yourself with both can significantly enhance your workflow and project outcomes In addition, you will learn the workflow between building design and site design, geo-locating a Revit model using the internal coordination tools within Revit and Civil 3D.
After completing this course, you’ll be able to:
- Describe the core concepts of Civil 3D and set up the environment for civil design.
- Create existing conditions from a survey.
- Model topography, surfaces and alignments.
- Create proposed site grading.
- Create a gravity pipe network.
- Integrate with Revit for site modeling and drainage alignment.
- Use Autodesk Construction Cloud to integrate designs from all engineering trades.
