It's a recommended best practice for you as the primary admin to assign a secondary admin with an Autodesk account.
00:08
Doing so help divides the user workload and keeps users working without disruption if you are not available.
00:15
In this presentation, I will discuss the differences between a primary admin and a secondary admin to help you determine,
00:21
if assigning a secondary admin is right for you.
00:26
As a primary administrator, your role enables you to manage users, create teams,
00:30
as well as create teams within those teams to help efficiently manage a large user list.
00:37
With teams in place, you can assign software entitlements to users and teams.
00:43
Further than this, if you decide that you would like to have a backup administrator or help administering your Autodesk account,
00:50
you can assign and change admin assignments for other users.
00:54
And, if required, you can also implement and manage Single Sign On or SSO with your domain.
01:01
In fact, some companies assign a specific SSO administrator that has internal access to the identity provider with this task,
01:09
as this setup and configuration does involve your internal IT systems.
01:15
And then finally, if required and you are set up as a contract manager, you can manage billings and renewals of your Autodesk subscriptions.
01:23
Please note that the billing and orders menu will display in Autodesk account.
01:28
However, unless you are a contract manager, you will not have access to purchasing.
01:34
One last detail to keep in mind is that your Autodesk account can have only one primary administrator in situations,
01:41
where you are using the single team that's assigned by default to all accounts.
01:46
However, if you have set up multiple teams, you can have a primary administrator assigned per team.
01:52
Keep in mind, however, that there can be only one contract manager,
01:56
and they would manage the subscription renewals and billings for all teams in the account.
02:02
The responsibilities for a secondary admin are very similar to that of the primary admin,
02:08
but their responsibilities only apply to the team or teams that they're assigned to.
02:14
This means they can only manage the users and their software in that team and also can only create teams within their assigned team.
02:24
They also do have the rights to change the admins within the team, which can be important if a primary admin is no longer available for this role.
02:33
The secondary admin can promote themselves or another user.
02:37
In a situation where a secondary admin has not been assigned to your team,
02:41
you would actually have to reach out and contact Autodesk support to modify the account if the primary admin was unavailable.
02:49
And then finally, if required and they are set up as a contract manager,
02:53
a single secondary admin can manage billings and renewals of the Autodesk subscription.
02:60
Unlike a primary admin that can only be assigned to one person per team,
03:05
there can be multiple secondary admins assigned per team, if needed.
03:09
Additionally, secondary admins cannot implement or manage SSO.
03:16
Ultimately, the decision on whether to add a secondary admin will be dependent on how you want to manage your Autodesk account.
