The InfoWater Pro Criticality Assessment Manager app, also known as CAM, can carry out a detailed, comprehensive assessment of the hydraulic impact of valve operations in the water system. This example performs a valve criticality evaluation based on an external GIS layer.
Start by running a simulation for the current scenario:
To open the CAM:
To set the data sources for valves to be used in the CAM assessment:
These fields have been added to the GIS feature class for this example.
In this case, hydraulic assessment is based solely on an assessment element. A hydraulic simulation is run after closing all pipes connecting to the target assessment element.
The CAM app will report all junctions receiving more than this threshold.
The CAM app evaluates the network based on the active network and the defined options. Progress is displayed on the progress bar, and a summary is displayed in the Message Board.
This report displays the area required to isolate valves, and extends to immediate upstream and downstream valves.
The top value shows the maximum demand loss, along with the valves associated with this loss. These high values are due to the setup of this example model, where the valves layer covers only a portion of the network, and large sections of the network without valves are included in the Closed Area.
This report displays areas disconnected from supply sources, if any, as a result of the Closed Area.
The Run Summary report shows the status of each assessment run, and whether the run encounters any disconnections.
In the network map, all of the valves that need to be closed to isolate WV108 are now displayed in red.
In the network map, all of the impacted pipes are now displayed in yellow.
