Configuring Vault Client for Inventor

Configuring Vault Client for Inventor

Steps covered in the video:

  1. Create a new part by going to File, then New, then Part. Save the blank part and return to the Inventor screen. The part and IPJ file should be generated.
  2. The IPJ file is what is needed for this step. Check in the IPJ file to Vault using either the Vault tab at the top or in the Vault tab next to the model browser. Check-in the IPJ file; a modal will open and then select OK
  3. Open Vault Client by clicking Autodesk Vault, log in as an administrator ensuring the right Vault instance is selected.
  4. Navigate to Vault Settings: Tools, then Administration, then Vault Settings. Go to Working Folders, then select Define
  5. Select Enforce consistent working folder for all clients. Click the three-dots button under Client Working Folder, to open the file directory. Locate the Inventor Project file, created in section 1.
  6. Check Enforce consistent project file for all clients. Select the three-dots button to locate the IPJ file checked in at step 2. Once selected, click OK.
  7. Configure the File Options by selecting Define next to Define Unique File Name Options.
  8. Select Enforce Unique file name. This will enforce the rule that prevents duplicated file names. Create exceptions by selecting either File with selected extensions or Files in specified folders
  9. Select Apply and OK once completed.
