Hi.
00:06
In this video we will look at what's one
00:09
of the important concept that is working folders.
00:16
The files stored in a vault cannot be directly edited.
00:20
When files are checked out or when you get versions of files from a vault,
00:27
the files are copied from the vault
00:29
to a local folder
00:31
called the working folder.
00:43
The working folder contains read-only copies of files that
00:47
have not been checked out from a vault.
00:51
When a file is checked out,
00:52
the checked out version from the vault
00:55
replaces the file in the working folder
00:57
and
00:59
becomes rewrite for editing.
01:05
When the file is checked back into the vault,
01:07
the local version in the working folder
01:10
returns to read only.
01:18
When you get a file,
01:20
you will see the status icon here
01:23
that shows that
01:24
a local copy of this file
01:27
is downloaded to the local folder.
01:31
You can click on any file involved
01:33
and right click on it,
01:36
and
01:37
use Go to working folder command
01:41
to see the same file downloaded to the
01:45
local working folder structure.
01:50
A working folder location is defined by default,
01:54
allowing you to begin working with a vault right away.
02:02
The default working folder is
02:05
My documents vault, as you see on your screen here.
02:12
If you are using Civil 3D,
02:13
the default working folder is C drive slack civil3Dprojects.
02:23
You can click on any folder in the vault
02:27
and right click on it
02:29
and click Go to Working folder
02:33
to browse the
02:34
Windows Explorer
02:36
local working folder,
02:38
if in case
02:40
any files have been downloaded from the selected folder from the vault client.
02:46
Note that
02:46
the working folder will not auto download anything from Vault,
02:50
and hence the local working folder will only show the files that are downloaded
02:55
by the local logged in user.
