Exercise - Materials

Let's select the materials we'd like to investigate for this design.

Click the Materials icon in the ribbon.

We can assign specific Materials to specific Manufacturing methods or to all methods that we'd like to investigate. 

Note that a total of seven (7) materials can be leveraged across all methods for each Generate submission.

Add Materials to the Study:

• From the Library selection pick Fusion 360 Material Library
• Expand the Plastic category listing
• Left Click and drag the following materials to the top for All Methods:
  • PAEK Plastic 

Change the Methods to Milling

• From the Fusion 360 Material Library
  Expand the Metal category listing
• Left Click and drag the following metals to the top.
  • Steel and Nickel-Copper Alloy 400
  • Once selected, click Close 

*Note - You'll notice that some materials contain an icon next to them (). This indicates that costing will be supported by this material and this manufacturing method. If you select materials without this icon, Generative Design will still produce results however filtering based on potential production costs will not be available.
