Importing Civil Structures into Revit
Importing Civil Structures into Revit
This part is my favorite. Pulling the data into Revit! If you haven’t already, please refer to the first video in this course which explains how to grab the Revit add on for Infraworks. Once it is installed in Revit, follow these steps:
- Start Revit and create a new model by going to Models New…
- I am going to use the Imperial-Structural Template, but you can use the metric one if you want.
- With the new model open, save it somewhere that makes sense to you. I am going to save mine in the folder where I am keeping all of my models. I am going to call it Park Bridge.rvt
- Now go to the Add-Ins tab.
- Click the Category Mapping icon in the Civil Structures Panel as shown below:
- Notice you can map Civil Structures to actual Revit components. We want to do this.
- In the category Mapping dialog, map the elements as shown below:
- Click OK.
- Click Save
- Click Import Civil Structures
- Find the IMX file you exported from Infraworks.
- Once it is imported, save the model.
