Displaying Design Options

Any referenced datasets can be downloaded from "Module downloads" in the module overview.

Display Options - Exercise

Once you have your options set, you can create views and add them to drawing sheets to show your clients the different options.

To display design options in Visibility/Graphic Overrides, follow these steps:

  1. Open Revit.  
  2. Open your architectural model. 
  3. Right-click on the 3D_Design Options view and select Duplicate View>Duplicate.



  4. Rename the new view to DO-Front-Red sign. 
  5. In Properties for the DO-Front-Red sign view, enable the Section Box. 
  6. Adjust all six sides so the 3D model only contains the front façade area of the building, as shown below.



  7. Duplicate the current 3D view again and rename it to DO-Front-Fancy Sign. 
  8. In the View tab>Graphics panel, select Visibility/Graphics. 
  9. In the Visibility/Graphic Overrides dialog box, select the Design Options tab on the far right. 
  10. For the Building Front design option set, expand the drop-down list in the Design Option column and select Fancy Sign.



  11. Click OK. 
  12. Open the DO-Front-Red sign view. 
  13. Open the Visibility/Graphics Overrides dialog box and go to the Design Options tab. 
  14. For the Building Front design option set, expand the drop-down list in the Design Option column and select Red Sign, then click OK. 
  15. Double-click on the Garden Roof 3D view to make it active. 
  16. Select one of the level lines in the view. In the contextual tab, expand Hide in View and select Hide Category.



  17. Duplicate the Garden Roof 3D view and rename it to DO-Roof-Red. 
  18. Duplicate the DO-Roof-Red view and rename it to DO-Roof-Blue. 
  19. Duplicate the DO-Roof-Blue view and rename it to DO-Roof-None. 
  20. Open the Visibility/Graphic Overrides dialog box. On the Design Options tab, for the Garden Roof design option set, select No Roof and click OK. 
  21. Make the DO-Roof-Blue view current. 
  22. Open the Visibility/Graphic Overrides dialog box. On the Design Options tab, for the Garden Roof design option set, select Blue Roof and click OK. 
  23. Make the DO-Roof-Red view current. 
  24. Open the Visibility/Graphic Overrides dialog box. On the Design Options tab, for the Garden Roof design option set, select Red Roof and click OK. 
  25. In the Project Browser, scroll down to Sheets (all). Right-click and select New Sheet…



  26. In the New Sheet dialog box, choose E1 30x42 Horizontal for the titleblock.



  27. From the Project Browser, drag the DO-Front-Fancy Sign and DO-Front-Red sign 3D views on to your new sheet.



  28. Save the model.
